The differences in formats make this game more popular among players who like to have diversity in their matches. Even though Duel Links came out prior to Master Duel, Konami has no plans to stop supporting the game to create longevity among the digital player base. I haven't played the Yu-Gi-Oh video games since Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's. I wanted the Zexal video game but it was released without online so I saw no reason to buy it. I haven't watched the anime since Zexal which I did not enjoy at first but it got better as it went on. I didn't watch Arc-V because I know Yu-Gi-Oh dubs are bad.

Link evolution isn't as smooth of a experience as Master Duel but I believe it's the newest offline yugioh with the most cards besides Master Duel. Edit: It has mostly the same functionality but lacks the more polished feel. Look into emulating the older games with retroarch. It's a front end for a bunch of emulators.
